Walnuts for Breakfast Boost Brain Function
According to a new study by researchers at the University of Reading in the UK:
Young adults who ate a handful of walnuts (about 50 grams) for breakfast saw long-lasting improvements in reaction time and increased memory performance for several hours afterward.
The findings reinforce the claim that walnuts are a brain-boosting food, and that eating a walnut-rich breakfast has such a positive effect on brain function that it continues throughout the day. Consuming nutrients containing omega-3 and polyphenols may also have benefits for the brain. Food & Function Journal
