FDA Warnings on Specific Recreational Use of Laughing Gas

FDA warns against recreational use of laughing gas

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning to consumers not to inhale products containing nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, due to potential side effects including mental disorders and even death.

Nitrous oxide is an odorless, colorless gas that, when inhaled, causes euphoria, relaxation, and detachment from reality.

According to the FDA, people who use the gas for its euphoric effects may experience a dangerous drop in blood pressure, leading to loss of consciousness and other injuries.

Some of the laughing gas products listed by the FDA, which are sold in colorful packaging at gas stations, vape shops, and online, include Cosmic Gas, Galaxy Gas, and MassGass.
